As we advance into this newer age of "indie" game development, small and skilled team, are able to put out some pretty good and professionally looking games, and or mods for games, using various engines that are out there
This is a discussion about IF a collaboration (BT Generals: TCS) / or new project gets underway, of what engine to use.
Currently older mods include: "Tiberian Sun: Mech Wars" and "Battletech Generals: The Capellan Solution"
The goal is to get a project going in a newer better engine, IE: Generals Zero Hour although it can be more buggy
The other option is the engine used in "Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars" as I have personally found the mods to have barely any crashes (when compared to ZH) at least in AI: skirmish. And a lot of Mechwarrior ground work is already there, in the look of the units, the game rules for the mechs, even the powered armored units look abit like Elementals, and there is alot of models to work with now too that can be put and modifies into the game
Other engines that caught my "curious eye "Dawn of War: Soulstorm" and "Act of Aggression"
Any other ideas for engines too can be discussed here too
